BILLIONAIRE A UK singer/producer based in the South East coast. Influenced by Krautrock, post-punk and alt-pop, his music comprises dark melodies, sparse electronic beats, reverb-washed guitars and lyrics that shift between satire & blunt honesty.
After spins on Radio 1, endorsements from Huw Stephens, a Glastonbury slot, and BØRNS support shows in 2016, BILLIONAIRE will be performing with his full band coinciding with a 7” single and 5-track ‘Cheap Credit!' EP release on Blue Mary Records. It's his second EP and marks a shift towards more progressive beats and richer production, still with the same skewed social commentary.
“Politically and culturally aware, the artist feeds this information into his song-writing… noir-driven and deeply atmospheric pop music.” - Clash Music
“Billionaire’s sound is minimal, moody and mysterious. Whilst his lyrics conjure thoughts of contradictions, irony and blunt honesty (along with his music name of choice)…” - Wonderland
Kreol Lovecall (A.K.A. Jonathan Richards, former guitarist in Hey Colossus, Joeyfat & Unhome, and all round hell-raising band leader to the Notorious Hi-Fi Killers). He's made a solo album as a reaction to a decade spent in the UK psych/noise rock scene. These songs hold a mirror to the current state of 21st century life, and reflect the things he sees walking through his native south London. Pressures felt from social media and aspirationalism, social unrest and injustice all penetrate this work.
Kreol Lovecall matches the fizzing and popping of drum machines against taut 80s machine funk, all delivered with a wonky, woozy underground feel. Delirious with colour and soaked in melody, the physicality of the sound is just about the only connection to Hey Colossus.
A deeply independent entity… Superbly creative, the record is redolent of an era when individual decisions manifest themselves as functions of dissent against an encroaching, pervasive political system.’ clash 2016
Keid return to the Discovery stage. They’re a young band with heavy influences of Zeppelin, Free, Nirvana and Chilli Peppers fuel a powerhouse of live energy and songs like Hot on Your Heels, My Town and Own Man's Girl show a songwriting maturity beyond their years. Big things....
Jay Johnson is a musician and singer-songwriter who moved to London before his teenage years and began making music from a young age. Jay’s naturally curious mind led him to start learning the cello. He then taught himself how to play the guitar a few years after. Jay started listening to artists such as Bob Dylan, Paolo Nutini, and Ben Howard from his early teens, and as a result their influences can often be seen in his original works.
Jay eventually began writing his own original songs, then a year later, he started busking on the streets of London, and another a year later, he began performing at pubs and venues. A few months after Jay started playing to live crowds in various venues, he decided to leave his previous career plans of becoming a doctor behind, and decided to become a full-time musician.
Jay is a resident artist at the world-famous Roundhouse venue in London, and is currently working on his debut EP.
