MATT GROCOTT & THE SHRIVES

Matt Grocott & The Shrives are an exciting upcoming UK band who formed after frontman Matt Grocott and lead guitarist Josh Horsfall recorded a full-length album at Jingletown Studios in Oakland, California in March 2014. The album featured Joey Armstrong (Emily’s Army) on drums, was produced by Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) and recorded by Grammy Award-winning engineer Chris Dugan. The band have since played an extensive number of gigs and have toured the UK, releasing their first single “Turn Me On”, which gained mainstream music press coverage from Kerrang!, Rock Sound and NME.

“Matt Grocott & The Shrives are unafraid to experiment, with their music veering from solid indie to pop to punk-funk.” - NME

“There are rushes of power-pop energy and acoustic tracks that fall somewhere between Johnny Cash and Violent Femmes, all served with a vintage punk and new-wave vibe. Keep your eye on The Shrives” – Kerrang!

AFFAIRS

From scattered English Counties, the band members of Affairs all met at Hull University, drawn together by their mutual appreciation of great music, art, slick hair, tight jeans and loose hips. Affairs are a well-dressed quintet, who have garnered a reputation for their ethereal and theatrical live performances, considered lyrics and hooky, alternative synth, pop / rock style.

Alan Raw, from BBC Introducing said “The quality of the vocal is absolutely brilliant”.

Comparisons have been drawn to artists as diverse as Foals, David Bowie, The Smiths and Frank Sinatra, with James Moore – Independent Music describing the bands sound as “Somewhere in between The Smiths, Joy Division, Interpol, and modern indie rock, Affairs are a very interesting new five-piece from the UK. The word has been spreading fast about this young band with a classy sound”

ARCHIE SYLVESTER

With a sound deep routed in blues but also taking heavy influence from some of the great songwriters of the 20th and 21st centuries, Archie Sylvester creates a colourful playground of meaningful songs, punctuated with instinctive guitar playing and heartfelt vocals.

Archie has done a sold out tour of Europe as the support act for Keziah Jones, played many of the UK's best festivals and has recorded in some of London's most prestigious studios.

His latest EP "One" was released by Spiritual Records in September 2015

"Archie Sylvester has found a niche somewhere between Jack White and John Mayer and made it his own." ArtBeat 2015

Sylvester cites some of his main song writing and playing influences as Paul Simon, Jimi Hendrix, Jack White, Pink Floyd and Tom Waits.

PERISCOPE VIEW

London based Periscope View have drawn comparisons to artists such as Morcheeba, Portishead, London Grammar, Sneaker Pimps, The XX and Sigur Rós. After just a couple of months on the unsigned circuit Periscope View were spotted by industry podcast Chartburst and featured as one to watch.

Their Summer 2015 release "The Grays Grown EP" gave Periscope View the right attention from LoudUp and Tom Robinson and 2015 led to all manner of exciting gigs from festivals, community events and venues, shop windows to art galleries, radio stations to festivals.

In January 2016, Periscope View released their latest EP entitled Photographs, which showcases the band’s strong, unapologetic musical identity forged from the unique harmony between organic and processed sounds. The songwriting is the band’s strongest to date with production that allows the individual musicians’ talents to shine.
